Mux Mool - Denver
Ghostly International
http://fakebananaco.com/#/music-1/
Skirting the edges of a hundred peeling stickers on dusty bins in forgotten record stores, Mux Mool didn’t set out to throw critics into a labeling tizzy—he just makes what sounds right. Jagged broken beats slip-slide across circuit-bent, pitch-shifted synths in a dystopian wasteland of 90’s nostalgia. The Mux Mool arsenal is a moody collection of instrumental dynamism vacillating between the serious and the silly.
He made his public debut on Moodgadget’s compilation, Rorschach Suite, with his track “Lost and Found” followed by an appearance on the Ghostly International and Adult Swim compilation Ghostly Swim with the ever-popular track “Night Court”. Lindgren found his audience amongst the neo-nerd ne’er-do-wells raised on junk food, taurine, and Adult Swim bumps. In a country steeped in pop and technology, a music geek with computer knowhow and cheap keyboards smashed the gatekeeper model with sonic sketches that went viral. His early work slipped onto “best of” lists in the mid-2000’s alongside fellow Swim alum Flying Lotus. Two Drum EPs and two full-lengths (2010’s Skulltaste and 2012’s Planet High School) cemented his Ghostly standing among the crate-digging elitists of the hip-hop world, but the nascent bass music movement latched onto the nomadic beatsmith, aligning him with the wonkier, brainier echelon of producers.
Brian Lindgren has been on the move from the beginning, hitting classy corners of happening neighborhoods, from Minneapolis to Brooklyn to Ann Arbor—dipping his toe into each burgeoning metro area, and soaking in the creativity that emanates from a scene on the rise. Relocating to Denver, Colorado, the epicenter of all things electronic, Lindgren is hitting his stride in time with the city that now more than ever towers above the landscape of the entire industry.
Now exposed to a vastly different audience of post-adolescent sub addicts, Lindgren didn’t tune in, turn off, and sell out; rather, the cerebral subsonic alignment of his body of work put him right in the crosshairs of tastemakers who heard whispers of his name all along, following the release of his most recent album Appetite for Production. The kids just get it. The Mux Mool catalogue is a hand-me-down from the older brothers of the scene, outlining where we are and where we’re going.

VOX MOD - Seattle
https://voxmod.bandcamp.com/
"Vox Mod’s ascent through Seattle’s musical ecosystem has been as thrilling as his densely detailed electronic symphonies. All of Vox’s rigorous research and development have culminated in his riveting new album, SYN-ÆSTHETIC. Collaborating with Palaceer Lazaro (Shabazz Palaces), Irene Barbaric (Eighteen Individual Eyes), Erik Blood, and others, Vox Mod (Scot Porter) has crafted a varied, organic-sounding collection of outward-bound songs that ingeniously commingle hiphop and techno tropes. These compositions sprawl elegantly into silky vastness, all stellar melodies and sleek propulsion." -Dave Segal, The Stranger

"Scot Porter meticulously hand-drew, frame by frame, the animation for his music video “Iridescent Asteroid Mists.” By laying a piece of transparent acrylic between his legs and turning on a desk lamp, he carefully traced and redrew the fractal shapes that populate the remarkable video, full of cosmic choreography and strange geometry. Choosing to do this rather than use computer-powered animation shortcuts is emblematic of the singular kind of electronica Porter has been making under the name Vox Mod. In a genre populated by mechanistic beats and robotic tones, Vox Mod’s music sounds like organic chemistry. His recent LP, SYN-ÆSTHETIC, is full of bio-rhythmic pulses and warbles that might soundtrack the coolest science-class video on cellular evolutionary theory. Performing live, he pushes harder to connect than his laptop-gazing peers do, headbanging more than most rock groups. While his album drops references to the early-’90s dystopian cartoon Aeon Flux, Vox Mod’s music sounds more like a bioluminescent Utopian future."

Subset - Seattle
Noise Complaint
https://soundcloud.com/subsetgetsit
You can never be completely sure what you’re in for when you see Subset perform - even he isn’t too certain what to expect. Honing his craft over the past six years in the demanding and eclectic New York City scene, Subset has soaked up the variety of music NYC has to offer and developed his unique sound by finding ways to weave all of these loose threads together.

From his weekly bass music party at Webster Hall (BASSment Saturdays) to his renegade sets at festivals around the country to massive sets at Holy Ship!, Camp Bisco, and Burning Man, Subset knows just what to play to set the perfect tone, no matter the setting.

Subset has made his name and built a following in an unconventional manner. The usual formula for DJs is to lock themselves away in their studios and become antisocial while their hone their craft. Subset decided to flip the status quo and go hyper-social instead. He has spent the last six years building communities and developing close, personal relationships with those who enjoy his music.

BASSment Saturdays, the legendary bass music weekly Subset hosts and curates at Webster Hall, has become a home and a family for electronic music fans all around the Northeast. Some fans travel hours to be there every week, not necessarily for the headliners, but for the family and the vibes that inhabit that space.

Subset has also been an integral member of the Holy Ship! community known as Shipfam. For years, he has thrown countless preparties, afterparties, renegade sets, and meetups. In 2015, HARD recognized his aptitude for curation and event planning, and tapped him to curate his own stage at all Holy Ship! official preparties. In 2016, HARD recognized the demand that he had built over the last four years, and gave him sets on both Holy Ships.

As his reach expands, Subset is seeking to use his platform to continue and expand his curation, launching a monthly livestream series based out of TPA Studios in Manhattan as well as collaborating on new monthly parties around the US. Subset is also diving into the studio on the heels of his wildly successful collaborative remix of Destructo & Bot's SHIPFAM anthem. Expect more projects and a lot more new music in 2016!

BOGL

Griffin March aka BOGL, is a self-taught DJ and music enthusiast originally from Las Vegas, NV. With his parties, Soundpieces, Bogl has been able to host and play alongside current left-field artists from around the world in San Francisco and beyond for years. His charisma is like that of a friendly ghost; he is kept close to your heart as one would a godfather, while basically existing as an untouchable phenomenon. He’s become known for appearing out of what seems like thin air to play an eclectic selection of bass heavy productions, take you to an unfathomable dimension, then suddenly vanishing to another far off place. It make us wonder how it’s even possible for Bogl to exist.

His career has taken him literally all over the globe touring alongside artists such as Diplo and Truth, he’s been a resident at Outlook Festival, Symbiosis Gathering among others, and makes frequent stops anywhere from Asia, to Europe, to Canada. With his career as a DJ nearing ten years, Bogl is moving forward to release secret production projects with fellow bass music artists, while leading the rapid expansion of Soundpieces that already has a long-term established legacy of blowing minds with their “good fortune” music experiences.

EPROM - Samurai Live 9-16-16

EPROM - Samurai Live
Tiger Fresh, VOX MOD, Introcut & WD4D, Hetrik
$12 adv, $15 door, 9p - 2:30am, 21+

Tickets at www.kremwerk.com

EPROM is one of the vibrant West-Coast scene's most colorful characters and an important cog in the international Rwina machine. He's a consummate post-snake person producer, and his sound varies from toxic hip-hop to searing garage mutations to bizarre concoctions somewhere in between. His beats jiggle and drip and contort wildly, always in some perpetual state of melting, churning, and mutation. He's had releases on Warp, Surefire, and Bristol-based Bad Acid, but it's his Rwina releases that have been the most visible and enduring, whether it's the timestretch torture and fierce melodic geysers of "Humanoid" or deconstructionist mayhem of his "Pipe Dream" EP, where dubstep and grime collide for a staggering beast that shakes off heavy blotches of radioactive fluorescent sludge with every beat that lands. His live sets are something to behold as well, emphasizing the hip-hop roots that lurk underneath his sewer beats, and an hour of EPROM is bound to turn your brain into to the same sort of goo that gums the gears of his distinctive beats.

Fans and supporters of Eprom include Flying Lotus, Questlove, DJ Shadow, Rustie, THE GASLAMP KILLER, The Glitch Mob and BBC Radio One's Mary Anne Hobbs, and the producer has shared the stage with many of the international electronic music community's hottest artists. With his new album, Metahuman, garnering critical acclaim from all corners, Eprom is finally getting the recognition he has earned as an integral part of the giant bouncing backbone of West Coast Sound.

Addison Groove - Lost City @ ReBar Seattle 5/13/2016

10:30 - 3am / 21+ / $14 adv - $20 door

Addison Groove (aka Antony Williams) started life under a different pseudonym altogether. Recording as Headhunter, with an LP and 12” releases on the influential Tempa label stretching back to 2007, he achieved legendary status within the dubstep scene. His work at the deeper end of the spectrum graced the label an impressive 7 times, a figure matched only by Skream. This work looked set to continue until 2010 when, seemingly out of nowhere, he crafted one of the biggest bass music tracks of the decade, ‘Footcrab’, under the new name of Addison Groove.

The response to ‘Footcrab’ was phenomenal, receiving critical and commercial success in equal measure across the dance music scene. Getting plays not only from the dubstep DJs that Williams was used to reaching, it also found its way into the record boxes of techno and house heavyweights such as Aphex Twin, Surgeon, Ricardo Villalobos and Mr Scruff, bringing an enormous new audience to his music in the process. Taking influences from the Chicago ghetto tek and juke scenes, Addison Groove’s impact on UK bass music has been colossal and unprecedented, sparking a huge interest in these styles from his peers and the listening public alike.

For even more music, check the Addison Groove Soundcloud.

Lost City is a fresh collaboration between veteran producers Noah D and No Thing based out of Los Angeles. The duo calls this new amalgamation of the old and new simply, “JNGL”.

Noah D started in electronic music with a wide range of Drum N Bass releases including the classic, Good Sound with reggae legend Anthony B which also saw DNB star Benny Page on remix duties. Years later he followed with groundbreaking Dubstep tunes including, Seeeriousss and Examination of Time with Babylon System. More recently SMOG Records put out his first full length artist album entitled, Perspective which included collaborations with Antiserum and Truth, as well as vocal appearances by The Grouch and UK Grime stars, P Money and Newham Generals. Over the years his tunes have been rinsed by the likes of Skream, Dj Hype, 12th Planet, Dieselboy, and Mista Jam to name a few.

For the past ten years No Thing has been collaborating with powerhouse producers like Noah D, Antiserum, Truth, Babylon System, and SPL. Tunes like Fully Loaded, Examination of Time, Murderous, Gangster and “All as One” made it to the playlists of Skream, Bassnectar, N-Type, Plastician and Excision.

Ana Sia’s DJ crate is a ticker for the hottest sounds of tomorrow. One of the west coast’s most celebrated DJs, this LA-based tastemaker is known for not only energizing the dance floor, but consistently breaking new sounds from all over the world. Having championed many of the most beloved music festivals in the North America and abroad, Ana Sia has gone from rocking house parties to stadiums by stylistically staying two steps ahead of the game. From huge festivals like Coachella, Lollapalooza, Detroit Electronic Music Festival, Electric Daisy Carnival and an array of clubs and venues spanning every major city, countless college towns and hot spots everywhere, Ana Sia has built a community just as fun, wild and eclectic as her style and alongside that comes a growing list of artists ranging in all styles that she has shared the stage with.

Sia unleashed her first full length contribution in 2012, a well-regarded compilation and DJ-mix titled ‘Surreal Estate’, a strong testament to her forward-thinking style, ‘Surreal Estate’ was featured in music publications such as Resident Advisor, Pitchfork, XLR8R, & Sonic Router, touted as leading the way with the brightest production minds in North American dance music. Coupled with her growing production catalog on Frite Nite, Hot n Heavy Recordings, Thoughtless Music and self-launched Cham Recordings, Ana Sia looks to make her mark on recorded music as memorable as her DJ sets. In the meantime, she’ll keep crowds enticed -- keeping speakers pumping with big bass-driven, intelligent and sexy music...deep enough for the cabaret and filthy enough for the festival stage.

The Jersey Club movement is being hailed by music authorities like FADER and VICE as the next big wave in dance music. Thankfully, this movement has already found a first lady to guide it into the future. UNiiQU3, began as a sought-after vocalist in the club scene, and has recently solidified herself as one of the most electrifying producers in the game. Her records have been obliterating festival and club sound systems through the hands of some of the most influential people in dance music such as Skrillex, A-Trak, Diplo, Anna Lunoe and Sinjin Hawke. She's also shared the stage with notable artists and djs such as Rae Sremmurd, Kehlani, Skepta, Cashmere Cat and Hudson Mohawk to name a few.

As a performer, UNiiQU3 is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser who moves effortlessly from hard-hitting bass music to current and classic hip-hop, r&b along with her own live cuts, she's the definition of entertainment. Her goal is to push the genre forward and show people that you can do whatever you want if you work hard and stay true to you. Be sure to be on the lookout for her debut EP in 2016.

One of the most intriguing rising talents of the West Coast dance scene, Saint’s musical and artistic palette is as diverse as the city he calls home- Los Angeles. From vocal-heavy rap tracks, to experimental bass music, traditional house to club music bangers, the producer tackles a wide array of sounds- all with the defining flair and signature bold aesthetic he’s known for. It’s no wonder the producer’s work has been supported by a wide array of the community’s biggest and most celebrated artists and publications. With his profile continuing to rise, the young producer is poised to form his genre-defying sound even further, all the while defining the balance between accessible and progressive as only he can.
